Osmose ist ein Vorgang, bei dem Wasser in Lufteinschlüsse im Fiberglasslaminat gelangt und dort eine chemische Reaktion mit Harzrückständen auslöst. Dabei steigt der Druck und mit Flüssigkeit gefüllte Blasen bilden sich, die dann am Unterwasserrumpf sichtbar werden.
Öffnet man die Blasen, entweicht eine einer übelriechende Säure ähnlichen Flüssigkeit.
Beim Osmosetest misst der Sachverständige den Feuchtigkeitsgehalt im Fieberglasslaminat.
Ab einem gewissen Wert ist davon auszugehen, dass die Festigkeit des Yacht Rumpfes beeinträchtigt ist und eine Osmosebehandlung vorgenommen werden sollte!
Osmosis is a process where water gets into air voids in the fibre glass laminate and reacts with residues from the resins. The reaction creates a pressure in the voids and the visible blisters appear on the underwater hull. A smelly acidly liquid runs out when the blisters are opened up.
A osmosis test, carried out by a qualified marine surveyor, consists of measuring the moisture content for the fibre glass laminate.
At a certain level of moisture in the laminate, it has to be assumed that the strength of the hull is reduced and an osmosis treatment should be carried out.
